He's playing my song!

We're country music fans, and a big joke around the house is that Brad Paisley's song "Online" is pretty much my life (sadly.) This song is hysterical. Here's the lyrics, and I've added my own unique circumstances in parentheses:

"Online"--Brad Paisley/Chris DuBois/Kelley Lovelace

I work down at the Pizza Pit (BBB)
And I drive an old Hyundai (I drive an '06 Hyundai)
I still live with my mom and dad
I'm five foot three and overweight (I'm 5'7)
I'm a sci-fi fanatic (no), a mild asthmatic (exercise-induced)
Never been to second base (well, it's been a while...lol)
But there's a whole 'nother me that you need to see
Go check out MySpace (www.myspace.com/shawnchristine)

CHORUS:
'Cause online I'm out in Hollywood
I'm six foot five and I look damn good
I drive a Maserati, I'm a black belt in karate
And I love a good glass of wine
It turns girls on that I'm mysterious
I tell them I don't want nothing serious
'Cause even on a slow day I can have a three-way chat
With two women at one time
I'm so much cooler online, I'm so much cooler online

I get home, I kiss my mom
And she fixes me a snack
I head down to my basement bedroom (no basement)
And fire up my Mac (PC)
In real life, the only time I've ever even been to LA
Is when I got the chance with the marching band
To play tuba in the Rose Parade (No marching band)

But online I live in Malibu
I pose for Calvin Klein, I've been in GQ
I'm single and I'm rich and I've got a set of six-pack abs
That would blow your mind
It turns girls on that I'm mysterious
I tell them I don't want nothing serious
'Cause even on a slow day I can have a three-way chat
With two women at one time
I'm so much cooler online, Yeah I'm cooler online

When you've got my kind of stats it's hard to get a date
Let alone a real girlfriend
But I grow another foot and I lose a bunch of weight
Every time I log in

CHORUS

If you really listen to his songs, the funny ones as well as the serious ones, in my opinion, Brad Paisley is the best songwriter in any genre in the past 20 years. And he's the best damn guitar picker in music today!

Bad Blogger and Bad Blogger Friend...

I haven't been keeping up with either writing OR reading blogs, and I apologize to all of my bloggy friends. I will catch up with you all this week.

As for me not blogging, well, not much has been happening. My toe is healed, and I'm back to training for Marine Corps Marathon. I'm still plugging away in school, going for the so-far elusive 140 wpm jury charge (still working on 120 in literary (my nemesis) and Q&A. Getting close on those two.) Still working at the Hellhole two days a week. And my two favorite managers are leaving, so THAT should make things fun :-P Basically, my life is school, work, run, repeat. But I'll try to check in here at least once a week, just for grins.

Big Sur has been postponed for our group, so I'm going to Mardi Gras Marathon in February in New Orleans with Kay from Winter Garden instead. And then I'm going to run Country Music Marathon in Nashville at the end of April, the same weekend as Big Sur. I'd also like to do a fall 2008 marathon, of course, but I'm not sure which one. My friend Kirsten from Indy, who we met at Kiawah last December, is trying to raise interest in Mount Desert Island Marathon in Bar Harbor, Maine. I must admit, I'm intrigued...Damn, I hate when people put little nigglings of ideas into my head!

Dixie, my semi-evil kitty, is doing very very well. She's fat (sorta) and healthy and currently sleeping on a plastic grocery bag that was laying on my bed. Weirdo.

I'm currently reading Suite Francaise by Irene Nemirovsky. I'm enjoying it so far, but I'm not quite a quarter of the way through it. I haven't had a ton of free time to read lately, but I try to get a few pages in every day.

Over my summer break, I became obsessed with The Office. I watched all three seasons in a two-week span of time, so I'm really looking forward to the new season this Thursday. Yeah, I need a life...

I went to Orlando with Linae on Sunday to watch Nancy do the Disney Triathlon. Nancy was fabulous! Took third in her division! Awesome, as always. And I'll be cheering Linae on in just a few weeks in Panama City Beach at Ironman Florida. Which reminds me: I need to pick up some kazoos...
